A particularly cool feature of the Cellar Masters venues is that they have self-serve Enomatic wine dispensers. Just swipe your card and you can get a sampler of wine in varying sizes. In many cases, the main theaters on Celebrity ships are quite elaborate, with Broadway-level lighting and special effects, and the productions housed within the theaters are elaborate, too. Of course, each sailing is different and a 4-night spring break itinerary is probably most likely to attract families to Celebrity than any other type of sailing. Similarly, each evening in the dining room, we were given the choice of three different butters to sample with the bread basket. Each itinerary features one to two “formal” nights that we call Evening Chic. Evening Chic means you dress to impress, glamorous and sophisticated in your own way, with a cocktail dress, skirt, slacks, or designer jeans, an elegant dress top, or blazer—some guests even pack a tuxedo or gown for onboard photos.

One of its main rivals, Princess, has nearly twice as many berths (45,816), based on double occupancy. During departure day, we also had access to a private departure lounge with snacks and coffee, which we did take advantage of because we could stay there until 9am. Royal Caribbean, and other mainstream cruise lines, require you to check out towels and return them after use. This isn’t a huge nuance, but it’s nice to be trusted that any towel I use, I will return.
Unfortunately, four nights is hardly enough time to experience everything that a new cruise line has to offer. Instead, I viewed this as a little sampler of what the Celebrity experience is all about. Although the cruise ship was not their newest, we felt Celebrity Silhouette was the perfect size for a quick getaway. There was plenty to do and see onboard without all of the onboard thrills and family-friendly areas that we are used to seeing on Royal Caribbean. Celebrity offers a wide range of cruises all over the Caribbean, from three-night getaways to 12-night voyages.
Teens can hang out at the clubs with other children their own age and also take part in organized teen sports competitions, silent disco parties, culinary classes and Xbox tournaments. The Celebrity Central venues on Solstice Class ships are in "entertainment courts" that are also home to nightclubs called Quasar. The retro-chic hot spots draw a late-night crowd that comes to dance to tunes spun by resident DJs.
Celebrity allows you to bring two bottles of wine per cabin onto ships at boarding at no charge (for consuming in your room; you'll be charged a $15 corkage fee if you want to bring it to an onboard restaurant or bar to drink). If you're a U.S. citizen, you don't need a passport for many sailings out of U.S. ports (including sailings to Alaska, Bermuda, Canada, Hawaii and Mexico, and most sailings to the Caribbean). Instead, you can travel with an official copy of your birth certificate and a driver's license or other government-issued photo identification. A few other forms of identification, such as a passport card, also are acceptable.
Onboard Celebrity Cruises, the premium internet was $35 per day when purchased onboard. Since we receive a 30% discount with our Elite status, I waited until we boarded to purchase internet. Without the discount, it would have been $140 for the four nights, but the 30% discount took the price down to $98. However, we were really surprised to see the price difference for Internet between the two cruise lines. The service provider is identical, so the price difference is quite perplexing. On the final evening, we were invited to a Captain’s Club reception party, which we did not attend.
